escape room the game

Are you ready for “The Ultimate Escape Room Experience at home”?

We’ve been hearing the ‘buzz’ about this one for a while, but it seems like it’s finally hit Canada.

Yes, Spin Master Games – Escape Room The Game is Now Available in Canada, and we couldn’t be more excited!

How it works:

The game contains 4 adventures in ascending order of difficulty. Just like in a ‘real life’ Escape Room, you can only play each game once (bummer). However, You can buy ‘expansion packs’ once you’ve played them all creating a bit more value (and a lot more fun)

As in the case in many Escape Rooms found across Canada, you are “locked in” in this game and the object is to find the codes to “escape” within 60 minutes by solving puzzles in riddles.

The manufactuer claims “Use your brain! Teamwork, good communication, ingenuity, creativity, logic and attention for detail are also very important.” So, indeed, it appears just like a real escape room. Neat!

What’s in the box?

The box contains four different Escape Room adventures and each adventure has three parts. In each part, you must find a code consisting of four keys that you enter into the Chrono Decoder by using four of the 16 keys. Find three correct codes within 60 minutes to win the game. You win or lose together…

You start by opening an envelope and reading the introduction of the mystery. Solving the mystery is self-explanatory. Inside the envelope are different clues necessary for finding the final parts of its code.

Each turn you explore one of the elements in the room on the board. Here you will search for one or more hidden clues to help you solve the mystery.

Check out some of the specs:

  • You have 60 minutes to enter the correct keys on the Chrono Decoder to escape: it will count down remaining time, and emit intense sounds to let you know you’re almost out of time.
  • Features 4 thrilling escape rooms: Prison Break, Virus, Nuclear Countdown, and Temple of the Aztec.
  • Escape Room The Game is for 3-5 players ages 16 and up, and requires 3 AA batteries (not included).

The Ultimate Christmas Gift for the Escape Game Geek in your Life?

That’s a definite maybe. While a tad pricey at just north of $100CDN, you can’t beat the novelty factor. And, with expansion packs available, you should be able to get some pretty good mileage out of this one before it’s played out.

Gotta have it? Game is available on Amazon!
